When you create a custom food, by default its measure is grams. You can add more measures for the food on its Measures tab. Here, you can add common measures (such as slice) or import the measures from another similar item. If this food is a liquid, you can also enable volume measures (such as mL and L).

To add a common measure

  1. Open the food.
  2. On the Measures tab, enter the name for the common measure.
  3. Enter the corresponding weight for that measure.
  4. Optional: To make this measure the default, select the Default measure checkbox.
  5. Optional: Enter a description for the measure.
  6. Optional: Add another measure using these steps.
  7. Click Save.

Now, when you enter this food into a recipe, meal plan or food record, its common measures are listed for you to select from. If you mark a measure as the Default measure it is the first option to select from.

To import measures from a similar item

  1. Open the food.
  2. On the Measures tab, click Copy measures.
  3. Search for and select a similar item.
  4. Click Save.

Now, when you enter this food into a recipe, meal plan or food record, the imported measures are listed for you to select from.

To enable volume measure for liquids

To provide volume measures for a liquid food, such as millilitres and litres, you need to provide specific gravity information (volume conversion factor)—that is, how much does a particular volume of the liquid food weigh?

  1. On the Measures tab, in the Volume boxes, enter a number of millilitres (mL) and a corresponding number of grams (g).
  2. Optional: Select the Liquid checkbox (to show the analyses per 100mL in the analysis pane).
  3. Click Save.

Now, when you enter this food into a recipe, meal plan or food record, the volume measures are listed for you to select from.

Tip

To delete a common measure, on the measure row, click  Delete, then Confirm
