In Foodworks.online Version 2, resources now exist in both a Draft or Published version.
Drafts allow you to experiment and make changes to your resources without affecting the live, published version. This means you can play around, test ideas, and ensure everything is perfect before making it official. It also means your changes are saved automatically.
In Professional you can create resources either for the whole workspace or specifically for a client.
To create a resource for the workspace
- Open your workspace.
- In the navigation pane, select + Create new resource or client.
- Enter the name of the resource.
- Enter additional information as needed.
- Your changes are saved automatically.
The resource will remain as a draft until you select Publish.
To create a resource for a client
- Open your workspace.
- In the navigation pane, select the client.
- Select the Resources tab.
- Click Create new <Resource>.
- Enter the name of the resource.
- Enter additional information as needed.
- Your changes are saved automatically.
The resource will remain as a draft until you select Publish.
To display client resources in the navigation pane, click the ellipsis (...) and select Show client resources. When you open the client, the resource also appears on their Resources tab.
Viewing published and draft resources
After creating a resource, it appears in the navigation pane.
Resource drafts are identified by an indicator next to the resource icon in the navigation pane. For example, in the image below Almond Butter Smoothie has a draft version. Additionally, within the resource itself, a banner reading Unpublished changes is displayed at the top.
When you open a resource, you'll see the published version. In a published version you can view the resource details, change the resource name, apply tags and attach files. To edit the resource and make changes, click the Edit button.
If your resource had drafted changes, you'll see these once you click Edit. Once you are satisfied with this draft, click Publish to commit the changes to the published version.
Discarding resource drafts
If you do not wish to keep your changes made in the draft version, select Close and discard draft. This function will discard any changes you have made that you do not wish to publish.
Alternatively, you may simply click Close to exit the draft without discarding the changes.
Can other users in my workspace see my resource drafts?
No, resource drafts are private to you. Even if you share your workspace with others, they cannot see the changes you're making until you publish them.
To share your changes with others, click Publish when you're satisfied with your resource.
Is draft data used in my other resources or graphs?
No, any changes you make to a resource while it is in draft mode won't impact other resources or graphs. For example, if you're editing a custom food and haven't published those changes, they won't appear in recipes or calculations.
To see your changes are reflected in other resources or graphs, you will need to publish the resource.
