You can enable volumetric measurements (such as cup, mL and L) for a recipe. To do so, provide specific gravity data (density) for the recipe.

To enable volume measures

  1. To enable volumetric measures, on the Measures tab:

    1. Click Edit.
    2. If the recipe is a liquid–Click the Liquid toggle, this will automatically enable the volumetric measure toggle.
      - OR -
If the recipe is not a liquid–Click the Volumetric measures toggle.
    3. Enter the number of millilitres (mL) and its accompanying weight in grams (g). For example, enter 100mL = 115g

    4. Changes are saved automatically. When you are satisfied with this resource draft, click Publish

Tip

To find out the specific gravity, you can use kitchen scales to weigh a certain volume of the recipe. For example, you could use a measuring cup to weigh 250mL of soup which weighs 263g.

Notes

  • Now when you use this recipe as an ingredient in another recipe or as a food in a food record, you can use volumetric measures to enter its quantity.
  • The Volume data provides a Volume Conversion Factor (or specific gravity) for the recipe so that weight can be converted to volumetric measures.
