What is a recipe or sub recipe?

This article applies to the following workspace types

Nutrition Labelling

Recipes and sub recipes work the same way. Both are made up of ingredients and their quantities, and both can be used as ingredients in other recipes. They have different icons in the navigation pane so you can tell them apart. For example, you might use a sub recipe for a component, such as a sauce or a dough, and a recipe for the finished product.

For best results, build your recipes from the raw materials and sub recipes in your workspace, rather than from reference foods in the data sources. This means your labels use your own supplier data, allergens and label settings.

The nutrient analysis is calculated from the ingredients, adjusted for any retention factors and the recipe yield you enter. You can also add serve information, common measures and a method. Each recipe and sub recipe also holds the settings for its own nutrition label.

When you publish changes to a recipe or sub recipe, every recipe that uses it updates automatically.
