Enter or edit measures for a raw material

This article applies to the following workspace types

Nutrition Labelling

A raw material's default measure is grams. On the Measures tab you can add common measures (such as a slice), copy measures from a similar item, or turn on volumetric measures (such as mL and L).

Any measures you add are listed when you use the raw material as an ingredient in a sub recipe or recipe. Without them, only the standard options are available, such as g, kg and serve.

Add a common measure

  1. Open the raw material and click Edit.
  2. On the Measures tab, click + Add measure.
  3. In the Create measure dialog, enter a Name and the Weight in grams.
  4. Optional: Turn on Default to list this measure first when the raw material is used in a recipe.
  5. Optional: Enter any Notes.
  6. Click Create.

To delete a measure, tick the checkbox on its row and click Delete.

Copy measures from a similar item

  1. Open the raw material and click Edit.
  2. On the Measures tab, click Copy measures & VCF.
  3. Search for and select a similar item.
  4. Click Confirm.

This copies the item's measures and its volume conversion factor (VCF), which converts between millilitres and grams.

Turn on volumetric measures

  1. Open the raw material and click Edit.
  2. On the Measures tab, turn on Liquid if the raw material is a liquid. This also turns on Volumetric measures and lets you view the analysis per 100mL. If the raw material isn't a liquid but you want to measure it by volume (such as flour), turn on Volumetric measures only.
  3. Enter a volume in millilitres and its weight in grams. For example, 100mL = 115g.

Changes save automatically. When you're ready, click Publish.
