You can enable volumetric measures (for example, cup, mL and L) for a recipe or sub recipe. This is especially helpful if the recipe or sub recipe is a liquid.
Then when you use this recipe or a sub recipe as an ingredient in another recipe, you can use volumetric measures to enter the quantity.
To do this, you determine the Volume Conversion Factor (VCF) by entering how much a certain volume of this recipe weighs. The VCF is also known as the specific gravity or density.
If you also select the Liquid checkbox, the analyses for the recipe or sub recipe are also shown per 100mL.
To enable volumetric measures, on the Measures tab:
- Click Edit.
-
If the recipe is a liquid–Click the Liquid toggle, this will automatically enable the volumetric measure toggle.
- OR -
If the recipe is not a liquid–Click the Volumetric measures toggle. - Enter the number of millilitres (mL) and its accompanying weight in grams (g). For example, enter 100mL = 115g.
- Changes are saved automatically. When you are satisfied with this resource draft, click Publish.
Tip
To determine the specific gravity of a recipe or sub recipe, use food scales to weigh a certain volume. For example, you could use a measuring cup to quantify 250mL, and then weigh that quantity.
