In Nutrition Labelling, error and warning messages are shown for your raw material, sub recipe, and recipe resources. These messages are indicated by the notification bell at the top right of the resource window, as shown below.

Error and warning messages alert you to inconsistent values or missing mandatory information in your resources, which could contribute to incorrect nutrition labels.

It is recommended that you review and address all error and warning messages before exporting your nutrition labels.

Using error and warning messages

To view the messages for your resource

  1. Open your resource in Foodworks.
  2. Select the error and warning icon. The number of messages for the resource is displayed in red.
The list of error and warning messages for this resource is also displayed. See About the error and warning messages below for more.
  3. Optional: You may want to pin relevant error or warning messages so that you can resolve the issues in your resource. To pin messages, select the Screenshot 2024-06-07 110440.png pin icon. These messages are now pinned to the bottom of the resource window and update dynamically as you make changes.

Errors and warnings in nested resources

Where an issue is present in a nested resource, it is best practice to fix the issue in the nested resource first.

As shown in the screenshot below, there are several unknown allergen statuses in both the Avocado puree and Sweet Chilli Sauce sub recipes. Before declaring the allergens on the final recipe level, it is best to update the allergen status in these nested resources. To navigate to these resources, click the name in the warning messages.

In contrast, if a message has no nested resource name. This indicates that the the warning is for the final recipe level.

Once the issue causing the message to display is resolved, the message will no longer appear.

  • This message displays when the declared kilojoule value (declared on the Nutrients/Overrides tab) is greater than the calculated kilojoule value (calculated by Foodworks).
  • To resolve, check the values for the energy-yielding nutrients: protein, fat, carbohydrateSE, dietary fibre, alcohol, sugar alcohols, organic acids, and polydextrose. Adjust or add missing values where needed.
  • If all the energy-yielding nutrients are correct and the error persists, the EnergySE value entered is likely to be incorrect.
Calculated energy value is greater than the declared energy value.
  • This message displays when the calculated kilojoule value is greater than the declared kilojoule value.
  • To resolve this, check the values for the energy-yielding nutrients: protein, fat, carbohydratesSE, dietary fibre, alcohol, sugar alcohols, organic acids, and polydextrose. Adjust or add missing values where needed.
